Info on Buying Calves

Our first concern for our animals is always their safety and well-being. Yaks need to be with at least one other yak, which is why we do not sell single yak calves — 2 is our minimum sale. There are a variety of opinions on the wisdom of line breeding, and you’re looking for unrelated individuals, we are happy to coordinate sales with nearby yak breeders to make that happen.

We price our yaks based on their sex, color, and temperament.

Yaks come in many different colors, including all black, black with white trim, white, golden, and black and white (also called ‘royal’). Our calves are typically either royal, black, or brown as their main color, and often the darker colors have white trim.

Just like people, yaks have personalities. Some are more naturally tame than others, and those calves will be more expensive to purchase, easier to train, and more satisfying to own and interact with.

All of our calves are well socialized to humans and ready to be trained when they arrive to their new homes, if that’s what their owners wish. At this time we do not train them ourselves.
